Thailand's Floods Compounded by Treason & Incompetence

As Thailand Drowns, Proxy Government Seeks Amnesty for Wall Street Stooge.
by Tony Cartalucci

Update: November 20, 2011 - As reported below, the current Thai government "led" by PM Yingluck Shinawatra (Thaksin Shinawatra's sister) has recently received a very public seal of approval from US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. This support has now been fully reciprocated, as Yingluck and Thai Foreign Minister Surapong Tovichakchaikul (Thaksin's cousin through marriage) pledged full support for the US agenda throughout Asia including a nuclear non-proliferation act opposed by China and the sovereignty-crushing Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) economic integration.

Yingluck has also pledged support for the US designs toward Burma, ahead of Secretary Clinton's visit with US-funded "humanitarian icon" Aung San Suu Kyi. Previously, during Thaksin's regime, Thailand, and in particular, Chiang Mai, played a pivotal role hosting US corporate-funded "NGOs" working to foment sedition, unrest, and eventually regime change in neighboring Burma.

Additionally, as reported below, the Thai government, instead of dealing with unprecedented flooding destroying the country and a death toll reaching 600, has decided to close the doors of Parliament and attempt to seek amnesty for exiled Wall Street stooge Thaksin Shinawatra. Now, US-funded "pro-democracy" "red shirts" are taking to the streets, not to voice opposition over a negligent government leaving its people twisting in the wind in the face of disaster, but to actually support attempts to bring Thaksin back to power, completely undermining both their alleged democratic aspirations and their constant insistence that their movement is not directed by or in support of Thaksin Shinawatra.

These developments implicate a US moving to line up Southeast Asia against Chinese interests and expansion throughout the region as covered in Neo-Con Robert Kagan's "What China Knows That We Don't: The Case for a New Strategy of Containment," and again more recently by Hillary Clinton in a Foreign Policy article, "America's Pacific Century."

November 17, 2011 - Thailand's floods were the predictable result of poor planning, incompetent leadership, both past and present, and decades of political infighting that have paralyzed progress throughout the nation of over 65 million people. The current regime, led by ousted autocrat and Wall Street-stooge Thaksin Shinawatra, who runs the country via proxy through his own sister Yingluck Shinawatra, has filled its ranks top-to-bottom not with the most qualified candidates to administer Thailand, but with the most loyal candidates to preserve and expand Thaksin's own hereditary political dynasty. Thaksin runs his political party primarily from Dubai where he has been evading a two-year jail term for corruption since 2008.

Incompetence and equal blame throughout Thailand's political spheres has now shifted however, into downright criminal negligence placed directly on Thaksin's proxy party's shoulders. Thaksin's "Peua Thai Party," in the midst of the current unprecedented disaster, has done the unthinkable and decided to shirk their responsibilities and instead close the doors of Parliament for a "secret meeting" where they proceeded to re-write Thailand's laws in an attempt to seek amnesty for Thaksin. As floods ravage Thailand's countryside, undulate the nation's capital, have caused untold of damage both short-term and long-term to the nation's economy, and have claimed over 500 lives thus far, the government has literally used the disaster as a diversion to return their convicted criminal-leader to power.

As obscene as this negligence is and the humanitarian disaster Thaksin's Peua Thai Party is courting with their decision to pursue their political agenda instead of dealing with an unfolding nation-wide disaster, US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has pledged full-support behind Thaksin's proxy regime earlier this week stating, "it is in the national security and political interest of the United States to have this government succeed." Upon studying Thaksin's connections to both Wall Street and Washington, it becomes clear why Clinton is so adamant about supporting what appears to be a criminally incompetent government so overtly self-serving it cannot even take the time to hide behind the "fig leaves of legitimacy" the West commits its crimes and corruption behind.

Thaksin Shinawatra, Thailand's prime minister from 2001 until a military coup removed him in 2006, was a former Carlyle Group adviser and was literally reporting to the globalist Council on Foreign Relations in New York City on the eve of his ousting from power. While in office, Thaksin attempted to ramrod through the US-Thailand Free-Trade Agreement (FTA) without parliamentary approval, a 2004 FTA backed by the exact same US-ASEAN Business Council recently visited by UDD leaders in April of 2011.

Since the 2006 coup that removed him from power, Thaksin has been represented by Wall Street, London, and Washington via their lobbying firms, including Kenneth Adelman of the Edelman PR firm (Freedom House, International Crisis Group, PNAC), James Baker of Baker Botts (CFR), Robert Blackwill of Barbour Griffith & Rogers (CFR), Kobre & Kim, and currently Robert Amsterdam of Amsterdam & Peroff (Chatham House). The above mentioned Edelman, it should be noted, is also a sponsor of the US State Department's project, Movements.org which is on record training the Egyptian April 6 Movement that triggered the now admittedly US-engineered "Arab Spring."

Meanwhile, Thaksin's street mobs dubbed the "red shirts" who have attempted to overthrow his opposition while they were in power, have received rhetorical support by US-funded NGOs like Prachatai which received 1.5 million baht from the Neo-Con lined National Endowment for Democracy. Prachatai has also received funds from the Rockefeller Foundation, George Soros' Open Society, and the Sigrid Rausing Trust (who also funds the International Crisis Group) via the Global Human Rights Fund (2008). Additionally, a recent addition to Thaksin's red shirt mob's leadership includes Sombat Boonngamanong who has spent a lifetime in the service of UN projects and Fortune 500-funded foundations like "Ashoka."

Thaksin's "red shirt" leaders would even find their way to Washington D.C. earlier this year in April, where they met the same representatives from America's Fortune 500 that proposed the FTA Thaksin tried to pass during his term as PM, as well as Soros' Human Rights Watch and the above mentioned National Endowment for Democracy. The nature of their visit was to seek support ahead of Thailand's summer elections, from which Thaksin's sister tenuously came to power.

Yingluck might not be strafing her people with airstrikes like the West falsely accused Libya's Qaddafi of doing, but her proxy-servitude to her brother Thaksin, and in turn to Wall Street, has occupied time and positions of power that could have better been used by competent leadership in the face of the current devastating floods. 500 people are dead, millions have been affected, millions more stand to be as the clean-up effort will be just as rife with corruption, incompetence, and mis-leadership as was the government's disaster response.

Hillary Clinton's constant cawing in regards to "human rights," "democracy," and the "rule of law" rings particularly hollow as she now fully backs a government led by an unelected criminal, lurking abroad, who has his proxies rewriting the laws to exonerate himself of his crimes - all while using an unprecedented disaster as cover to do so. While the Wall Street-London "international order" has berated Thailand's military for its role in politics, particularly ousting their operative Thaksin and their constant guarding against his return to power, no scenario beyond a treasonous autocrat serving foreign corporate-fascist interests could better justify such political involvement.

The erroneous argument that "Thaksin was elected by the people" falls flat, as it is a guarantee that should the Thai voters enamored with his handouts and slick propaganda realize he is a bent-stooge to Wall Street and planning to fully betray the people he claims to be "lifting from poverty" just as his political ally Hun Sen has done in neighboring Cambodia, they would not only never vote for him, but they would chase him and his political machine out of existence.

The depravity of the corporate-fascist Wall Street-London "international order" and its chosen stooges throughout the world is on full display from Libya to Syria, and now in flood-ravaged Thailand. Should Thaksin come back to power and finally eliminate his rivals, Thais will look back at the 2011 floods as the final twilight of their national sovereignty - Thailand having been the only Southeast Asian nation to escape European colonization.
