Former Khaosod Journo Promotes Censorship

July 27, 2019 (ATN) - Todd Ruiz formally of Khoasod - who witnessed and even live-Tweeted red shirt terrorism in Bangkok in 2010 before writing entire articles omitting any mention of it - has published an article on "Coconuts" celebrating Facebook and Twitter's censorship of my various accounts.

Branded a "Russian-backed disinformation operation," Ruiz attempted to spin my work over the years as "conspiracy theories" but carefully avoided linking to any of my work preventing readers from deciding for themselves.

Ruiz also accused me of antisemitism - the go-to smear when no real argument exists - simply because I mention George Soros' Open Society Foundation and its funding of various fronts posing as NGOs in Thailand - which is of course an irrefutable fact and has nothing to do with whatever faith or ethnicity Soros may or may not be.

Image: Todd Ruiz live-Tweeted Thaksin Shinawatra's red shirts carrying out terrorism at the center of
Bangkok in 2010. Now he calls Shinawatra's opponents reminding the public of his past and present efforts to divide and destroy Thailand "conspiracy theorists" and "anti-democratic"

It is ironic that Ruiz is celebrating the closure of a "Russian disinformation operation" but criticizes my work exposing US meddling in Thailand.

He also interviewed and quoted Human Rights Watch's representative in Thailand - Sunai Phasuk - who claimed:

His model of coordinated misinformation and fake news has poisoned the Thai society and become a model for the military’s ‘information operation’, pro-government media, and ultraconservative groups to discredit and incite hate and violence against pro-democracy activists, human rights defenders, and critics of the government.
Not only have I never promoted violence, I have repeatedly condemned it - no matter who it has been directed at - including at US-backed agitators working to undermine the Thai government. I condemned it when it was Thaksin and Yingluck Shinawatra killing protesters, bystanders, soldiers, and police between 2009-2014. And I condemned the recent attacks on "Ja New in an article specifically titled, "Political Violence is Never Acceptable."

The same can't be said of Sunai who was silent throughout the 2014 protests when terrorists linked to Shinawatra's government carried out deadly attacks leaving over 20 men, women, and children dead.

Ruiz and others claiming I represent "anti-democratic" notions because I oppose Thaksin Shinawatra and his various proxies and nominees including Future Forward fail to explain how Shinawatra and his proxies represent "democracy" in the first place.

Shinawatra has the worst human rights record in Thai history. No other Thai "dictator" real or imagined comes close to matching his record ranging from mass murder and terrorism to intimidation and censorship of the media. Future Forward - despite denying being Shinawatra's nominees - has nonetheless linked up with Shinawatra's Pheu Thai Party and was even nominated by Shinawatra's party as their candidate for prime minister.

Ruiz - a "real journalist" - and others like him claiming anything they disagree with is "fake news" or "disinformation" and normalizing this form of censorship is a gift to the governments of nations they seek to impose Western interests on. We may soon see the day the FCCT here in Bangkok is deemed "fake news" by the government they are so fond of undermining and attacking - along with complicit publications like "Coconuts," visas revoked, and individuals like Ruiz sent home for good.
