Thailand: Another Day, Another Hypocritical "Student" Rally

July 18, 2020 (Tony Cartalucci - ATN) - Supposed "student" protesters have vowed to take to the streets later today, complete with a concert - to make their 3 demands - according to Bangkok Post and their own posts on their poorly followed social media accounts.

Calls to rally barely garnered 1,000 likes on Facebook - with their Twitter and Instagram accounts barely followed by 3,000 each despite constant mention in local media and their promotion by US government-funded fronts posing as NGOs including Prachatai.

The group calling themselves, "The Free Youth" - yet another transparent rebrand of corrupt billionaires Thaksin Shinawatra and his proxy Thanathorn Juangroongruangkit's various street mobs - demand that the government step down because of their poor handling of the COVID-19 crisis and the fact that a new COVID-19 case was just discovered in Thailand's Rayong province.

The Bangkok Post would note:
The demands include a House dissolution by Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha for failure in economic administration and allowing "VIPs" to enter the country without undergoing appropriate periods of quarantine.
No hypocrisy is noted by "The Free Youth" over the fact that their attempt to stage a mass protest in the middle of the capital is itself a violation of "appropriate" rules to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and much more likely to spread the disease than the incident in Rayong making them many times more guilty than the government they are complaining about.

Previously, similar mobs complained about the government's inability to stem the spread of COVID-19. When the government successfully contained the virus, the complaints then shifted to the measures used to do so and the economic impact it had despite the global economy - not only Thailand's economy - being impacted.

Other demands include - alongside Thaksin's Pheu Thai and Thanathorn's Future Forward political parties - that the 2017 Thai Constitution passed by popular public referendum be "rewritten"- most likely in a fashion that will afford Thaksin and his supporters a straight road back into power.

Again - no hypocrisy is noticed that supposedly "pro-democracy" protesters are protesting against a democratically elected government and a publicly approved constitution.

Nor is any hypocrisy noted by "The Free Youth" that while the rest of the country struggles to recover from the GLOBAL economic damage caused by the COVID-19 crisis, they seem to have all the money and time in the world to create yet another potential point of instability and crisis for Thailand.

Is this what the Thai people want? Obviously not. And if "The Free Youth" are engaged in activities detrimental to the vast majority of the Thai public, can they really dare call themselves a "pro-democracy" movement? Certainly not. It is yet another illustration of "activists" hiding behind principles rather than upholding them - and in this case - wearing down and diminishing ideals like representative governance and activism in the service of corrupt billionaires and their foreign sponsors.
