US-Funded Thai Protests: "Student Leaders" on Defensive, Lie About "No Masterminds"

September 2, 2020 (Tony Cartalucci - ATN) - Thai-based English-language newspaper The Nation published a particularly poor example of journalism titled, "No mastermind behind students’ high-risk fight for democracy, says Rung."

The article simply repeats the baseless, unqualified denials of Panusaya "Rung" Sithijirawattanakul, attempting to claim once again that the ongoing protests in Thailand are "organic," "self-organized," and that "there is no leader or mastermind behind political protests launched by the Student Union of Thailand."

Of course, this is false. Thailand's billionaire-led opposition had openly vowed to put these very mobs into the streets and these same protesters now claiming they are "self-organized" had openly followed billionaire Thananthorn Juangroongruangkit in the streets just months ago.

There is also extensive documented, verified evidence proving that this billionaire-led opposition is backed by foreign interests with virtually every aspect of the protests being organized by fronts funded by the US government.

From protest leader Anon Nampa and his Thai Lawyers for Human Rights (TLHR), to legal organizations petitioning the government to rewrite the Thai constitution like iLaw, to fake news fronts like Prachatai providing lopsidedly positive coverage for the protests, to the organizations padding out the protests with extra bodies like Assembly of the Poor - all 100% verified to be funded millions of baht a year by the US government via the notorious regime change front, the National Endowment for Democracy (NED).

We can expect an irresponsible, young, attention-starved child to lie about what she is doing - incapable of admitting she is wrong or even of fully understanding what she is doing to herself and her own country as she's tempted by fame and fortune by her backers - but the media - newspapers like The Nation - journalists - are supposed to ask questions - not just repeat what people like Rung say.

Asking questions and pushing back with evidence and investigation and inquiry is what separates legitimate journalism and analysis from lobbying and PR activity simply posing as journalism.

The English-language media in Thailand has absolutely failed to function as journalism - and simply mirror and echo their Western counterparts - counterparts who are in no shape, form, or away engaged in journalism and all but admitted corporate propagandists guilty of selling everything from Western wars of aggression to similar Western-sponsored regime change activities targeting other countries around the globe.
