Editor's Note: For more information on the US National Endowment for Democracy (NED), and why an alleged "pro-democracy" leader attending a NED event presents a major credibility issue, please see: "NED & Freedom House are run by Warmongering Imperialists." The particular NED event mentioned in the article below is mentioned here (.pdf), on NED's official website.

KUALA LUMPUR: A Barisan Nasional backbencher has provided fresh evidence linking the Opposition with foreign funders.
Datuk Raime Unggi, who is Tenom MP, claimed that Opposition Leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim was once a panellist at the National Endowment for Democracy's (NED) “Democracy Award” event held in Washington.
He said this was told and written by Nile Bowie in his blog nilebowie.blogspot.com.
“Apart from providing an operation fund amounting to RM317,260 to portal Malaysiakini.com and RM285,516 to Suaram, NED also organises research on public opinion with leaders in Penang and Selangor,” he said when debating the Supply Bill 2013.
Raime said the Government should look into how far NED's movement was in the country and its role and cooperation with the Opposition-led states.
